The 2026 New York State Senate election will be held on November 3, 2026.[1] Primary elections will be held on June 23, 2026.[2]

In the 2024 election, the Democratic Party retained its State Senate majority, but lost its veto-proof (two-thirds) majority after it lost one seat in the election for the 17th Senate district.[3]

Candidates must file paperwork between March 30, 2026 and April 2, 2026 to run.[4]
