Pre-season and friendlies

On 23 May, Chesterfield announced their first pre-season fixture, against Matlock Town.[20] Three weeks later, a second friendly was added against Sheffield United.[21] Also confirmed was a training camp in Spain, along with a friendly against Europa Point.[22] On 17 June, a fourth friendly match was added to the schedule, against Burton Albion.[23] A fifth and sixth friendly was later announced, against Nottingham Forest and Alfreton Town.[24][25]
