Qarah Tappeh (Persian: قره تپه, also Romanized as Qareh Tappeh; also known as Qaratepe)[1] is a village in Miyan Kaleh Rural District, in the Central District of Behshahr County, Mazandaran Province, Iran.

Geography

Qarah Tappeh is located 13 km (8.1 miles) northwest of Behshahr, on a road which connects the city to the Caspian sea.[2]

Demographics

At the 2016 census, its population was 1,775, in 596 families.[3] Down from 1,884 people in 2006.[4] In general, the village consists of two neighborhoods: 1- Gilak neighborhood (Shiite) and 2- Aghun neighborhood (Sunni).[2]

People of the village are muslim from shia and sunni branches.[2]

The majority of the village's people are farmers, and given the soil and water conditions of the region, crops such as cotton, wheat, barley, rapeseed, sunflowers, watermelons, and melons are grown. In addition to farming, some people are also engaged in Animal husbandry.[2]
