Fencing at the 1983 Pan American Games was contested in Caracas, Venezuela, from August 14 to August 29, 1983, as part of the IX edition of the Games. Twelve events were held—six for men (individual and team competitions in épée, foil, and sabre) and two for women (individual and team foil). The competition saw dominant performances from Cuba, the United States, Canada, and Venezuela. In the men's individual events, Agapito Nussa (Cuba) won épée, Efigenio Favier (Cuba) took foil, and Peter Westbrook (USA) claimed sabre. Cuba also secured gold in both men’s team foil and sabre, while Canada won team épée. Among women, Margarita Rodríguez led Cuba to victory in the individual foil, and the Cuban squad won the team foil competition (). This edition continued fencing’s established presence at the Pan American Games since 1951.
