Sailing at the 1983 Pan American Games was one of the sports contested during the IX Pan American Games, held in Caracas, Venezuela, from August 14 to 29, 1983. The sailing programme featured ten events, including men’s sailboard and Laser classes, alongside open-category competitions in J/24, 470, Lightning, Snipe, Soling, Star, and others. A total of eight nations reached the podium across these events, with the host country leading the medal table with five medals (four gold, one silver), followed closely by Brazil and the United States. The regattas took place under varied sea conditions in Caracas Bay and underscored sailing’s established presence as a recurring Pan American discipline since 1951.
