Fencing at the 1991 Pan American Games

Fencing at the 1991 Pan American Games was held in Havana, Cuba from August 2 to 18, 1991, as part of the XI Pan American Games. Twelve events were contested—six for men (individual and team competitions in épée, foil, and sabre) and six for women (individual and team foil and épée). The United States topped the medal table with 12 medals (7 gold, 4 silver, 1 bronze), followed by Cuba (10 medals) and Canada (3 medals). Notable individual champions included Cuba’s Lazaro Castro, who won men’s individual épée, and American Steve Mormando, who claimed gold in men’s sabre. In the women’s team foil, the U.S. team—comprising Caitlin Bilodeaux, Jane Hall, Ann Marsh, Sharon Monplaisir, and Molly Sullivan—secured gold in a surprise victory over Cuba.
