Telangana Grameena Bank is an Indian Regional Rural Bank (RRB) in Telangana.[1] The bank was established on January 1, 2025[2][3] The bank was formed by the amalgamation of Telangana Gramin Bank and the branches of Andhra Pradesh Grameena Vikas Bank (APGVB) in Telangana under The "One State, One RRB"[4] policy of government which aims to consolidate Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) within each state, resulting in a single RRB per state. This policy, effective from May 1, 2025, is designed to improve efficiency, reduce operational costs, and strengthen rural banking services.[5]
It functions under Regional Rural Banks' Act 1976 and is sponsored by State Bank of India.
History
Telangana Grameena Bank (TGB) was an Indian Regional Rural Bank headquartered in Hyderabad, India. It was established in 2006 as a Regional Rural Bank as per Regional Rural Banks Act of 1976. By amalgamation, on March 2006, of the following 4 banks, including Sri Rama Grameena Bank , Sri Saraswathi Grameena Bank, Sri Satavahana Grameena Bank and Golconda Grameena Bank sponsored by State Bank of Hyderabad The name was later changed from Deccan Grameena Bank to Telangana Grameena Bank in 2014. The recent amalgamation involves merging the branches of Andhra Pradesh Grameena Vikas Bank (APGVB) in Telangana with Telangana Grameena Bank (TGB) , effective January 1, 2025.[6]
