Meg Hughes is an American professional soccer player who plays as a midfielder for USL Super League club Sporting JAX. She played college soccer for the Providence Friars and the Michigan State Spartans.

College career

Hughes played four seasons for the Providence Friars, being named the Big East Conference Freshman of the Year in 2020 and earning all-conference honors every season, twice on the first team. She scored 23 goals and provided 13 assists in 70 games.[1][2][3] She transferred to the Michigan State Spartans for her graduate season in 2024. She scored 7 goals with 6 assists in 22 games and was named second-team All-Big Ten.[4]

Club career

Washington Spirit

Hughes was invited to train as a non-roster invitee with the Washington Spirit in the 2025 preseason.[5]

Sporting JAX

On July 1, 2025, new USL Super League club Sporting JAX announced that the team had signed Hughes for its inaugural season.[6]
