The brig collided with Avon ( United Kingdom) and was abandoned in the Atlantic Ocean (43°30′N 17°13′W / 43.500°N 17.217°W / 43.500; -17.217). All thirteen people on board were rescued by Avon. Eliza was on a voyage from Faial Island, Azores to Savannah, Georgia.[7][8][9]>
