In Parliament he was opposition Chief Whip.[3] In 2022, he was arrested and charged with fraud, conspiracy and misbehaviour.[4][5] The charges were in connection with the purchase of a $2.3 million Mercedes-Benz AMG G63 and whether the tax exemptions derived from the sale may have benefited a party financier.[6] In April 2025, the trial collapsed.[7] He claimed political persecution and thanked his party leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar for her support.[8]

In the 2025 Trinidad and Tobago general election, he changed constituency to stand in Caroni Central.[9] He was elected and was appointed Minister of Housing by Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar.[10]
