Akwatia is one of the constituencies represented in the Parliament of Ghana. It elects one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first past the post system of election. Akwatia is located in the Denkyembour district of the Eastern Region of Ghana.

Elections

The result of the 2024 election in this constituency was contested. In February 2025, Kumi defied an interim injunction by the Koforidua High Court barring him from being sworn-in as MP for Akwatia and was found to be in contempt of the court. A warrant was issued for his arrest. This conviction was overturned by the Supreme Court of Ghana in June 2025. Kumi however died suddenly in July 2025.[1]
