The 82nd annual Venice International Film Festival will be held from 27 August to 6 September 2025, at Venice Lido in Italy.

American filmmaker Alexander Payne will serve as Jury President for the main competition.[1] Italian actress and model Emanuela Fanelli will host the opening and closing ceremonies.[2]

German filmmaker Werner Herzog and American actress Kim Novak will receive the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement during the festival.[3][4]

The festival will open with La grazia by Paolo Sorrentino.[5][6]

The official line-up is expected to be announced on 22 July 2025.[10]

Venice Classics

Filmmaker Tommaso Santambrogio will serve as Jury President over 24 students recommended by professors of film studies from various Italian universities, the group will award the prizes for Best Restored Film and for the Best Documentary About Cinema.
