Caught Stealing is an upcoming American crime thriller film[1] produced and directed by Darren Aronofsky, from a screenplay written by Charlie Huston, and is based on Huston's book of the same name. The film stars Austin Butler, Regina King, Zoë Kravitz, Matt Smith, Liev Schreiber, Vincent D'Onofrio, Griffin Dunne, Bad Bunny, and Carol Kane.
Produced by Columbia Pictures in association with Protozoa Pictures, Caught Stealing is scheduled to be released in the United States by Sony Pictures Releasing on August 29, 2025.
Premise
A former baseball player finds himself immersed in the criminal underworld of New York in the 1990s.[2]

Production
An adaptation by David Hayter of the first book of a trilogy[3] about Hank Thompson written by Charlie Huston was in development in 2013, with Patrick Wilson set in the lead role.[4][5] A new film adaptation was reported to be in development at Sony Pictures in March 2024, with Huston adapting his own novel, Darren Aronofsky directing, Austin Butler attached to star and Protozoa Pictures producing.[6] In July 2024, Zoë Kravitz and Regina King joined the cast in undisclosed roles.[7][8] In August, Matt Smith, Liev Schreiber, and Bad Bunny were added to the cast,[9][10] with Griffin Dunne, Vincent D'Onofrio, D'Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai and Action Bronson joining the following month.[11][12][13][14] In December 2024 it was announced that Carol Kane had joined the cast in a role where she only speaks Yiddish.[15] Tenoch Huerta and Georgia Piña Clark also joined to the cast.[16]
Principal photography began on September 5, 2024 in New York City.[17][18]
Release
Caught Stealing is scheduled to be released in the United States on August 29, 2025.[19]
