World Conference on Women

Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and civil society organizations (CSOs) are eligible to participate in the United Nations World Conferences on Women as observers.

Accreditation Process

NGOs seeking to attend the UN World Conferences on Women must undergo a formal accreditation process through the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).[1] The steps include:

Registration – Organizations must apply via the NGO Branch of the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA). Forms and detailed instructions are available at: https://ecosoc.un.org/en/ngo/apply-for-consultative-status

Document Submission – Applicants must submit:

o  A copy of the organization's constitution or bylaws

o  Proof of official registration

o  Financial statements confirming at least two years of operational activity

Review – Applications are reviewed by the UN Committee on NGOs. If approved, the organization receives consultative status, allowing it to attend and contribute to the conferences.

Accredited organizations may participate in plenary sessions, submit statements, and join thematic events that address key global issues such as women’s political participation, economic empowerment, and gender-based violence.[1]
