Veeris Ammarapala (Thai: วีริศ อัมระปาล) is a Thai state enterprise executive, serving as the 20th Governor of the State Railway of Thailand (SRT).[1][2]

Early life and education

Veeris holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Industrial engineering from Thammasat University, a MS in Operations research from Columbia University, and a PhD in Industrial and Systems Engineering from Rutgers University.[3][1]

Career

Veeris previously served as Governor of the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT).[4] In 2024, upon becoming governor of SRT, he stated that his aim is to turn Thailand into a railway service hub for ASEAN.[5] His proposals include double tracking, developing SRT properties to increase revenue, and accelerating the payment of SRT debt.[5][6][7] Veeris has committed to finishing the Bangkok–Nong Khai high-speed railway to connect Thailand with Laos during his tenure.[8][2]
