Vece Paes (born 30 April 1945) is an Indian former hockey midfielder, representing the Indian team in the 1972 Munich Olympics, that won the bronze medal.[1] He is the husband of former basketball player Jennifer Paes and father of tennis player Leander Paes. He is also a doctor in sports medicine,[2] and served as the president of the Calcutta Cricket and Football Club.[3][4]

Early life

Paes studied Pre-medical course from Presidency College, Calcutta during 1964-65. He attended La Martiniere College in Lucknow.[5]

He is married to Jennifer Dutton, great-granddaughter of Bengali writer Michael Madhusudan Dutt. Their son is Leander Paes, India's top tennis player and Olympic medalist.
