- Vangelis Raptopoulos[1] (Greek: Βαγγέλης Ραπτόπουλος; born 1958, Athens, Greece) is a Greek novelist and considered a part of the "1980s generation".[2]
Career
His first work, In Pieces, was published in 1979, at the age of 20.[2] Along with his second book, Toll Post, they were adapted for television;[3][4][5][6][7][8] Loula, Black Wedding and The Invention of Reality were performed on stage;[9][10] while The Bachelor and Lesbian were brought to the screen.[11][12][13] The Cicadas came out in English,[14] The Incredible Story of Pope Joan in Italian.[15] He has published around 30 books.[16]
Raptopoulos has worked as a literary consultant in Greek publishing houses, a scenario consultant at Greek Film Center and various TV channels, a newspaper and magazine columnist, a screenwriter for the small and big screen,[17] a playwright for the National Theater and for independent theater groups[18], a producer and speaker on radio programs,[19][20] an adjunct lecturer in Creative Writing at the Hellenic Open University. His personal archive has been donated to the Gennadius Library.[21][22]
