The Unione degli Universitari (lit. 'Union of University Students'; UDU) is a national student organization in Italy that represents university students and advocates for their rights. It is characterized by a trade union-inspired model of student activism.
UDU consists of 28 structured student groups across major Italian universities.[2]
The organization was founded in December 1994 following a series of assemblies organized by pre-existing student associations across several Italian cities. UDU positions itself within the cultural and political tradition of the Italian left.[3]
The organization collaborates closely with the Rete degli Studenti Medi and maintains a formal partnership with the Italian General Confederation of Labour (CGIL), particularly on issues relating to labor rights and social justice.
As of July 2024, the national coordinator of UDU is Alessandro Bruscella.[1]
