Tim Klüssendorf (born 16 August 1991) is a German economist and politician of the Social Democratic Party of Germany who has been serving as a member of the Bundestag for Lübeck in the 2021 German federal election.[1]

Early life

Klüssendorf was born in Lübeck. He studied economics and business administration at the University of Hamburg.[2]

Political career

From 2013 until 2018, Klüssendorf was a member of the City Council of Lübeck.[3]

Klüssendorf defeated Claudia Schmidtke in the 2021 German federal election. In parliament, he has since been serving on the Finance Committee.[4]

Within his parliamentary group, Klüssendorf belongs to the Parliamentary Left, a left-wing movement;[5] since 2024, he has been the Parliamentary Left's co-chair, alongside Matthias Miersch and Wiebke Esdar.[6][7]

In the negotiations to form a Grand Coalition under the leadership of Friedrich Merz's Christian Democrats (CDU together with the Bavarian CSU) and the SPD following the 2025 German elections, Klüssendorf was part of the SPD delegation in the working group on public finances, led by Mathias Middelberg, Florian Oßner and Dennis Rohde.[8]

In May 2025, he became the SPD general secretary.[9]
