Tim Duckworth (born June 18, 1996) is a retired British-American decathlete who competed internationally for Great Britain and is the third-highest scoring decathlete in British history behind Daley Thompson and Dean Macey.[2]
College
Duckworth competed for the University of Kentucky, where he set the British national record in the heptathlon with a score of 6,188 points[3] and joined Ashton Eaton as the only other NCAA male track and field athlete to win both the decathlon and the heptathlon in the same year (2010 and 2018, respectively).[4][5]
International
Duckworth finished fifth in the decathlon at the 2018 European Athletics Championships,[6] earned a silver medal in the heptathlon at the 2019 European Athletics Indoor Championships,[7][8][9] and won back-to-back gold medals in the long jump at the British Athletics Championships in 2018 and 2019.[10][11]
Post-career
Persistent injuries caused Duckworth to retire from athletics.[12] He now serves as an assistant coach in the combined events and pole vault program at the University of Alabama.[4]
