Through Dungeons Deep

Through Dungeons Deep is a 1982 book written by Robert Plamondon and published by Reston Publishing.

Contents

Through Dungeons Deep is a book in which a detailed introduction to fantasy role-playing games is provided, covering both player and gamemaster perspectives. The book is structured into short sections, each with introductory explanations and wrap-ups. The first third of the book focuses on character creation and role-playing, while the rest offers practical advice on running a successful game and building a campaign world. It also explores human motivation in gaming, including the psychological aspects of suspension of disbelief. Additionally, the book includes appendices with reviews of games and magazines, as well as a discussion on using miniatures.[1]

Reception

John T. Sapienza, Jr. reviewed Through Dungeons Deep for Different Worlds magazine and stated that "Through Dungeons Deep is an excellent book [...] I wonder why it was printed only as an expensive hardcover that costs more than many games. This can only limit its availability to the gamer, which is the market it deserves to reach, not the library or school market. I hope that Reston will arrange with the author to do an updated edition, and publish it as a paperback for mass distribution. But even at its current price, I recommend Deep to anyone looking for ideas to improve your campaign."[1]
