The Room in Which Shakespeare Was Born is an 1853 oil painting by the British artist Henry Wallis. [1] It depicts the room in Shakespeare's Birthplace in Stratford-Upon-Avon in Warwickshire as it looked in the mid-Victorian era.[2] [3] Wallis was a member of the Pre-Raphaelite movement. Today the painting is in the collection of the Tate Britain in London, having been acquired in 1955.[4]
