"Tazeh Kand (Persian: تازه كند, also Romanized as Tāzeh Kand; also known as Tāzeh Kand-e Panāhī)[1] is a village in Abbas-e Gharbi Rural District, Tekmeh Dash District, Bostanabad County, East Azerbaijan Province, Iran.
Population
At the 2006 Iranian census, its population was 189, in 31 families.[2] The population is composed primarily of Azerbaijani Turks, who speak the Azerbaijani language and follow Shia Islam.[3]
Geography
Tazeh Kand is located in the mountainous region of northwestern Iran, in the vicinity of the Sahand volcanic range. The village enjoys a cold semi-arid climate, characterized by cold winters and mild summers.[4]
Administration
The village is administered under the Abbas-e Gharbi Rural District, which is part of Tekmeh Dash District in Bostanabad County. Bostanabad County is one of the 21 counties of East Azerbaijan Province, located in the northwest of Iran.[5]
Economy
The economy of Tazeh Kand is based primarily on agriculture and animal husbandry. Local farmers cultivate crops such as wheat and barley, while livestock rearing includes sheep and goats.[6]
Infrastructure
The village has access to basic infrastructure including electricity, potable water, and a rural health post. However, transportation links to nearby towns may be limited, especially during the winter months due to heavy snowfall in the region.[7]
Culture
Tazeh Kand retains traditional customs, folk music, and local festivals that are characteristic of Azerbaijani rural communities. Nowruz, the Persian New Year, is one of the most widely celebrated festivals in the area.[8]
