Sunny Kumar Singh is an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the 2018 batch, belonging to the Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territory (AGMUT) cadre.[1]

He is currently serving as the District Magistrate of New Delhi district (National Capital).[2]

Early life and education

Singh holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in mechanical engineering from Delhi College of Engineering, University of Delhi.He joined the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) in the 2018 batch.[3]

Career

Singh has held several positions in his career: Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Miao – Served as the ADC of Miao, an independent headquarters in Arunachal Pradesh, for two years.[4] Deputy Commissioner (DC), Changlang District – Appointed in May 2022.[5] Deputy Commissioner (DC), Kra Daadi District.[6] Transferred to New Delhi from Arunachal Pradesh in September 2024, Singh assumed charge as District Magistrate, New Delhi, alongside his role as OSD to the Chief Secretary on 18 October 2024.[7][8]

2025 Assembly Elections Controversy – During the 2025 Assembly Elections, Singh accused senior leadership of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of exerting undue pressure on him regarding the electoral roll. He subsequently lodged a complaint with the Election Commission seeking guidance on the matter.[9]

Singh served as the Excise Commissioner of Delhi from February 2025 - May 2025.[1][10]

Outside of his professional responsibilities, Singh is known for his interests in sports, engineering and biking.[14]
