Space Afrika

Space Afrika are an ambient electronic music duo consisting of Joshua Reid and Joshua Inyang, who are both from Manchester, England.^[1]

The duo began releasing music in 2014 heavily influenced by dub-techno and released their debut album Above The Concrete/Below The Concrete in that year.^[2]

They released their second album, Somewhere Decent to Live in 2018.^[3]

In 2020 they released hybtwibt?, a mixtape produced in the wake of the killing of George Floyd with all proceeds donated to BLM associated groups.^[2][4][5][6]

In 2021, after the release of their third album Honest Labour on Dais Records, they garnered critical attention as part of a group of artists based in Salford and Manchester connected to The White Hotel who were seen to be spearheading a revitalised experimental music scene in the north-west region of England. These artists included aya, Blackhaine, Rainy Miller, Afrodeutsche and Iceboy Violet. The project was awarded DJ Mag's Album of The Month.^{[7][8][9][2][5][10]}

In 2023 they released A Grisaille Wedding, a collaborative album with Rainy Miller featuring collaborations with artists including Mica Levi, Coby Sey and Richie Culver.^{[11][12][13][14][15][16]}
