Sinobdella is a genus of spiny eels, often considered monotypic, containing only S. sinensis[1] though Eschmeyer's Catalog of Fishes includes five species:[2]
- Sinobdella anguillaris (Mori, 1928)
- Sinobdella kobayashii (Oshima, 1926)
- Sinobdella longitubulus Shan & Zhang, 2024
- Sinobdella magnificus Endruweit, 2024
- Sinobdella sinensis (Bleeker, 1870)
The placement of this genus has been debated. It is placed in Mastacembelidae as the sister group to the rest of the family. This species has been placed as a member of the family Chaudhuriidae, but the evidence for this relationship is not strong.[3]
