Simon Daniels (born June 24, 1964) is a Brazilian musician, best known as the lead singer and rhythm guitarist for American glam metal band Autograph. Daniels replaced original Autograph frontman Steve Plunkett after the latter decided not to participate in a 2013 band reunion.

Biography

Simon moved from Brazil to Los Angeles in 1985 and shortly after formed the band Agent X, with guitarist Billy D'Vette (Pair-A-Dice), they recorded "Rock n Roll Angels" with Kim Fowley (Kiss & Runaways). He then merged with former Rough Cutt members Amir Derakh, Matt Thorr and Dave Alford and started Jailhouse. In the mid-'90s, Simon formed a band called Flood that signed to Interscope Records, produced by Bob Marlette and Terry Date. In 2013, the band Jailhouse did a reunion show on the Monsters of Rock Cruise and later that year he was asked to join Autograph because Steve Plunkett was not being interested in doing the reunion tour.[1]

Agent X

Simon moved from Brazil to America in 1985 and connected with Billy D'Vette, Dave Coleman, Eric Jarvis, and Mark Vernon to create Agent X. The band only made one album named "Rock 'n' Roll Angels" recorded with Kim Fowley, the band soon disbanded in the late 80s.

Jailhouse

Following the disbandment of Agent X, Simon reached out to former Rough Cutt members, Amir Derakh, Matt Thorr, and Dave Alford, they soon created Jailhouse. Jailhouse released the mini live EP album "Alive In A Mad World", recorded at the Roxy Club in Hollywood and released on Restless Records in 1989. The album included four live tracks, including Thin Lizzy 's cover of "Jailbreak", in addition to the acoustic track "Stand Up". The proceeds from this album also benefited the National Runaway Switchboard and Options House foundations, which help children in need. Jailhouse received radio and MTV airplay with the hits " Please Come Back" and " Modern Girl".The band later struck a deal with Enigma Records , but the label filed for bankruptcy shortly after. Due to the rise of grunge movement and a failed record deal, the band later disbanded and released their self-titled "Jailhouse" album several years after Jailhouse in 1997.

In 2013, Jailhouse did a reunion tour on the Monsters of Rock Cruise with only 4 of their original members being Simon Daniels, Michael Raphael, Dave Alford and Matt Thorr.

In 2008, Jailhouse released the album, 3rd Strike as an archival album/compilation of unreleased older songs.

Flood

After the disbandment of Jailhouse, Simon formed a band named Flood and signed it to Interscope Records with Bob Marlette and Terry Date.

Autograph

In 2013, Autograph did a reunion tour with only 3 of their original members. Autograph reached out to Simon and was offered to be the vocalist of Autograph.
