Shahid or Shahed (Arabic: شاهد šāhid) is a given name translating to 'Witness' in Arabic and 'Beloved' in Persian, mostly found in South Asia.
It is derived from the root Arabic: ش ه د, romanized: š-h-d [a] (cf. Shahada).[1]
