Lieutenant General Shaheen Mazhar Mehmood HI(M) is a retired three-star general of the Pakistan Army. He served as Commander of XI Corps in Peshawar and Commander of I Corps in Mangala.[1][2] He also served as the Inspector General of the Frontier Corps Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (North). He retired from active service in September 2022.
Early life and education
Shaheen Mazhar Mehmood hails from the village of Dhandi Edal Khel in the Karak District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. He was commissioned into the Pakistan Army in 1980 and is affiliated with the Pakistan Armoured Corps.
Military career
During his career, Mehmood held several important command and staff positions. He served as the Inspector General of the Frontier Corps Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (North) from 2016 to 2017, where he oversaw counter-insurgency and border security operations in the tribal areas.
He was promoted to the Lieutenant General in September 2018.[3]
In October 2018, he was appointed Corps Commander of XI Corps, a key formation responsible for operations in the western region of Pakistan, including coordination with civil law enforcement agencies in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.[4]
In November 2019, he was posted as Corps Commander of I Corps, Mangla — one of the Pakistan Army’s premier strike formations. He remained in this post until his retirement from active service in September 2022.
Awards and recognition
- Hilal-i-Imtiaz (Military): Awarded in March 2018 for his service in the Pakistan Army.[5]
