Sachin Yadav (born 25 October 1999)[1] is an Indian javelin thrower. He won a silver medal at the 26th Asian Athletics Championships with a personal best of 85.16 metres.[2][3]
Early life
Sachin Yadav hails from Khekra village in Uttar Pradesh. Initially passionate about cricket, his athletic potential was recognized by neighbor and athlete Sandeep Yadav, who observed Sachin's strong shoulders during a local cricket match.[4] Under Sandeep's guidance, Sachin transitioned to javelin throw at the age of 19. Standing at 6 feet 5 inches, his physique is considered advantageous for the sport.[5]
Career
2025
38th National Games: On 12 February, he won the gold medal in Dehradun with a personal best and meet record throw of 84.39 meters.[6]
26th Asian Athletics Championships: Yadav won silver medal with a person best of 85.16m, missing the gold medal by just 1.24m won by the then olympic champion Arshad Nadeem.[2]
Neeraj Chopra Classic 2025: At the inaugural edition of the meet, Yadav narrowly missed the podium, finishing fourth with a throw of 82.33 meters.
2024
All India Police Athletics Championships: Representing the Uttar Pradesh Police, he clinched the gold medal with a throw of 84.21 meters, breaking a 30-year-old meet record previously held by Satbir Singh.[7]
Indian Grand Prix 3: He secured the gold medal with a throw of 82.69 meters.
National Open Athletics Championships: Yadav earned a silver medal with a best throw of 79.80 meters.[8]
