Raymond Ltd, based in Mumbai, Maharashtra, is the largest integrated fabric manufacturer in the world.[3] It holds over 60% market shares in suiting fabrics within India, they possess majority ownership. It is also India's largest woolen fabric producer.[4]

Overview

The company's textile division operates a distribution network with over 4,000 multi-brand outlets and 637 exclusive retail shops.[5] Within the domestic market,[6] Raymond suiting fabrics are available in over 400 towns through 30,000 retailers, as well as through a chain of stores in more than 150 cities across India.

International Reach

Raymond exports its products to over 55 countries, including the US, Canada, Europe, Japan, and the Middle East. Its fabric collection includes more than 20,000 designs and colors.

History

Raymond Ltd. was incorporated as Raymond Woollen Mill in 1925 by Albert Raymond and Abraham Jacob Raymond near Thane Creek. Lala Kailashpat Singhania took over Raymond Woollen Mill in 1944. In 1958, the Raymond Retail showroom, King's Corner, was opened at Ballard Estate in Mumbai.[7] In 1968, Raymond established a garments plant in Thane, and in 1979, a new manufacturing facility was set up in Jalgaon (Maharashtra) to meet the rising demand for worsted woollen fabrics.

In 2000, Vijaypat Singhania handed over the company to his younger son, Gautam Singhania, and in 2015, he transferred 37.57% of the total shares to him.[8]

In November 2015, Raymond announced the appointments of Sanjay Behl as CEO and M Shivkumar as CFO.[9]
