Latin music (Portuguese and Spanish: música latina) is a term used by the music industry as a catch-all category for various styles of music from Ibero-America, which encompasses Latin America, Spain, Portugal, and the Latino population in Canada and the United States, as well as music that is sung in either Spanish and/or Portuguese. "Te Quiero" is a latin pop song by Guatemalan recording artist Ricardo Arjona, released on 5 July 2012 as the third single from his thirteenth studio album, Independiente (2011). The song was written by Arjona, who produced it with longtime collaborators Dan Warner and Lee Levin under their stage name Los Gringos. Additional recording work was handled by Peter Wallace, Matt Rollings, Carlos "Cabral" Junior and Isaías García.

The song became Arjona's fifth single to reach number one on the US Billboard Top Latin Songs, his ninth to do so on the Latin Pop Songs chart and third on Latin Tropical Airplay. It also charted at No.10 on the Billboard Mexican Airplay chart. An accompanying music video for "Te Quiero" was released in June 2012. It was directed by Gabriel Blanco and filmed during Arjona's concert shows at the Vélez Sarsfield Stadium in Buenos Aires, Argentina, as part of his Metamorfosis World Tour, and marks the first time Arjona releases a music video recorded from his live performances while on tour.

Colombian singer-songwriter Shakira has released ten studio albums, four live albums, two compilation albums, forty-nine singles (including nine as featured artist), and nine promotional singles. With sales of more than 70 million albums worldwide, she is the highest-selling Colombian artist of all time. She is the only South American artist to peak at number one on the Australian Singles Chart, the UK Singles Chart, and the US Billboard Hot 100. Four of her singles, "Whenever, Wherever", "Hips Don't Lie", "Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)", and "Loca", have achieved sales in excess of five million units, becoming some of the best-selling singles worldwide.

Shakira's musical career started at the age of 13 when she signed with Sony Music. Her first two studio albums, Magia and Peligro, were released in Colombia in 1991 and 1993 respectively. They performed poorly and had low sales, with the former selling fewer than 1000 copies. She found success across Latin America with her next album Pies Descalzos (1995) and its lead single "Estoy Aquí". The album received a "Diamond Prism" certification award in Colombia, selling more than one million units in the country alone.

cê is an album by Brazilian singer, songwriter, and guitarist Caetano Veloso. Released on 1 September 2006 on Mercury Records, the album took its title from the colloquial Portuguese word meaning you. It was written with Veloso's band in mind, which was chosen in part by percussionist Pedro Sá. cê received mixed critical commentary; several critics specifically noted the album's lyrical focus on human sexuality.
