Pleistacantha sanctijohannis is a species of spider crab. It has been found in the Philippine islands to Japan, from depths of 83โ106 m (272โ348 ft).[1]
Description
Its rostral spines are slender, appressed medially for about two-thirds of their length, and slightly inclined dorsally. The rostrum is relatively long and narrow. Its carapace is elongated and moderately inflated, with a well-defined dorsal surface ornamented by spines and tubercles. The carapace bears approximately 18 spines, including two mesogastric, two pairs of protogastric, one cardiac, and one posterior spine. The median parts of the branchial regions are nearly contiguous. The surface texture is rough with scattered granules.[1]
