Owala is a brand that specializes in insulated stainless-steel water bottles. The Owala brand is a subsidiary of Trove Brands and is known for its patented lid design and unique aesthetics.
Overview
Owala saw a surge in popularity during the COVID-19 pandemic as water bottles became a trendy status symbol.[1] Owala bottles emerged as a competitor to Stanley and Hydro Flask bottles.[2][3] Popular among Gen Z, Owala water bottles gained high demand with some limited edition bottles reselling for hundreds of dollars.[4][5][6] The company has been recognized for its successful marketing campaigns.[7]
History
Owala was founded by parent company Trove Brands, releasing the Owala FreeSip as its first product.[8] Six brands operate under Trove Brands. The company was founded by Kim and Steve Sorenson. Their son, Michael Sorenson, is the current CEO.[9]
Design
Owala bottles are modular, allowing for consumers to mix and match the lid, handles, and other colors. The Owala FreeSip has a patented lid, allowing users to drink from either a wide-mouth opening or the built-in straw.[10][11]
