Delaney is an English surname of Norman origin meaning "of the Alder grove"[1]. It is also the anglicized version of the Gaelic Ó Dubhshláine name Dubh meaning black and Sláine for the River Sláine (Slaney). Variants include Delaney, Delany and Dulaney.
