Nanikai, also known as Nanikaai or Nanekai is a village in South Tarawa, Kiribati.[1] The small village connects the town of Bairiki to the settlement of Teaoraereke.
The village has one main road that runs through the village as well as the Kiribati unting church or Ueen kain erim in gilbertese, a protestant church and the only one in Nanikai. Nanikai is located nearby to the Nanikai causeway, which is named after the village. In February of 2024, Nanikai launched community-based tourism known as Friends in Nanikaai (FIN). This was launched by the Tourism Authority of Kiribati in collaboration with the Environment and Conservation Division to Complement Fisheries Management Initiative.
