Muhammad Aqeel HI(M) is a three-star general in the Pakistan Army who currently serves as the Commander of the XXXI Corps, Bahawalpur, since May 2, 2025.
Education
Aqeel is a graduate of the 83rd Pakistan Military Academy (PMA) Long Course and is affiliated with the 2 Frontier Force Regiment (Guides).
Military career
Commissioned into the Pakistan Army in 1991, Aqeel served as the Inspector General of Communications and Information Technology at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi.[1]
In 2023, he was promoted from Major General to the Lieutenant General.[2]
In 2023, Aqeel appointed as the Inspector General Communication & Information Technology (C&IT).[3]
On May 2, 2025, he assumed command of the XXXI Corps, also known as the Bahawalpur Corps, succeeding Lt Gen Saqib Mehmood Malik.
Public engagements
In May 2025, following cross-border hostilities during Pakistan–India conflict , Lt Gen Aqeel visited Bahawal Victoria Hospital to assess the condition of civilians affected by the conflict.[4]
