The Ministry of Sports (Arabic: وزارة الرياضة) is a federal ministry of the United Arab Emirates Government, responsible for the development and regulation of the sports sector nationwide. Established in July 2024, the ministry aims to enhance community participation, support elite athletes, and foster innovation in sports governance.[1][2][3]
History
The Ministry of Sports was established in July 2024 as part of a federal cabinet reshuffle aimed at enhancing the UAE’s sports sector. Prior to its formation, sports affairs were managed under the General Authority of Youth and Sports Welfare and other government bodies. The creation of the ministry centralized sports governance to better align with national development goals.[4][3]
