Maykop Airport

Maykop Airport (Russian: Аэропорт «Майкоп») (ICAO: URKM) is a civilian airport located on the north of Maykop, Russia.^[1] It has no solid-surface runway and is licensed for turboprop traffic only. Jet planes may land only in case of stable dry weather. The Khanskaya air base (ICAO: URKH), which has a 2,500 m (8,200 ft) concrete runway, is about 5.2 km (3.2 mi) northwest of Maykop Airport and about 6.0 km (3.7 mi) east of Khanskaya.

Maykop Airport is now in a dilapidated and ruined state. The interior is layered with rubble and graffiti making the floor practically invisible. The stairs to the 2nd floor appear to be on the brink of collapse and under the stairs is a lot of rubble almost enough to reach half way up making it hard to get to the 2nd floor. On the 2nd floor there are hallways with remnants of a wooden floor, some walls are complete whilst others are broken. one of the rooms appear to be a small cafeteria judging by its size. in a other room there used to be a entrance to the Air traffic control tower but it appears to be destroyed for preservation and safety reasons. One safety reason is; the air traffic control appears to be made out of wood which appears to be rotting.

Recently the airport's land for Runway and most of the Taxiway have been sold, and now apartments are being built on the land.
