Matthew Wood (born February 6, 2005) is a Canadian professional ice hockey winger for the Nashville Predators of the Nashville Predators of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was drafted 15th overall by the Nashville Predators in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft.

Playing career

Wood was the youngest player in college hockey when he scored 11 goals and 34 points in 35 games playing for the University of Connecticut.[1] He was named to Hockey East's All-Rookie team. During the 2023–24 season, in his sophomore year, he again led UConn in scoring with 16 goals and 12 assists in 35 games.[2] On April 8, 2024, Wood announced he would transfer to the University of Minnesota for the 2024–25 season. During his junior year he recorded 17 goals and 22 assists in 39 games.[3]

At the 2022 Hlinka-Gretzky tournament, Wood put up five points in five games, winning a gold medal. At the 2023 U18 worlds, he led Canada with 13 points in seven games, winning bronze.[4]
