Masjid Hajjah Rahimabi Kebun Limau (Jawi: مسجد حجة رحيمة بي كبن لمو) is a mosque located in Whampoa, Singapore. Situated opposite the National Kidney Foundation Singapore centre, the mosque was built in 1984 and is named for Hajjah Rahima Bee Ahmad Angullia, who donated a large sum of money for the construction of the mosque. It replaced the smaller Masjid Kebun Limau located in the same place.

History

Before the mosque was constructed, the Muslim residents of Whampoa had only one mosque to serve them, known as Masjid Kebun Limau, named for the kebun limau (literally Malay for "lime fruit plantations") in the area.[1][2] The need of a larger mosque was eventually recognized when the Muslim population of Whampoa was steadily increasing.[1] A philanthropist, Hajjah Rahima Bee Ahmad Angullia, donated $1.6 million to build the mosque.[1][2] The donation was made in tribute to her daughter who died in 1976 as well as to continue her family's legacy of building mosques; her grandfather had built the Masjid Angullia at Farrer Park, while her father had built Masjid Al-Falah at Somerset.[1][3] The new mosque, named after her, was completed by 1984 and was a larger structure which included classrooms and a minaret.[1][4][5]

The mosque was designated as one of the heritage sites in the Balestier heritage trail.[1] It was extensively renovated in 2011, as commissioned by the Majlis Ugama Islam Singapura.[5]
