Mahdi Rasouli (Persian: مهدی رسولي) is a Maddah (religious singer) born on the third of August 1988 in Zanjan, Iran .[1] He is one of Iran’s most prominent religious orators.[2] Mahdi Rasouli performs Maddahi in four languages: Persian, Arabic, Turkish and Azerbaijani. He normally holds his Hei'ats (public places for religious rituals/mourning) in Hei'at Sarallah Zanjan, in Zanjan.[3] He also has held maddahis/dhikrs in the office of the supreme leader of Iran, as well as other countries such as Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Georgia, Turkey and Russia.[4]
Background and family
Mahdi Rasouli is a civil engineering graduate from Zanjan University and a bachelor's degree in cultural affairs management and a master's degree in Quran and Hadith sciences from Dar al-Hadith University.[5] Mahdi Rasouli grew up in a religious family and his father was in charge of the headquarters of the 36th Ansar Brigade during the Iran-Iraq war and was martyred in November 1990 in Kurdistan when Mahdi Rasouli was two years old. He is married and has two children, a daughter and a son.[6]
