M. Fazlul Karim
M. Fazlul Karim is a Bangladeshi diplomat and former Ambassador of Bangladesh to Saudi Arabia. He was the ambassador of Bangladesh to Mexico and China.[1][2]
Early life
Karim did his bachelors and master's in international relations at the University of Dhaka.[3][4]
Career
Karim joined the foreign service branch of the Bangladesh Civil Service in 1984 or 1986.[5][6]
Karim was the director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.[6] He was a counsellor at the Bangladesh embassy in the United States.[6] He was a Deputy High Commissioner at the Bangladesh High Commission in Pakistan.[6] He was the Consul General of Bangladesh in Hong Kong.[6] He was the Director General of the South Asia wing, the SAARC wing, and the United Nations wing in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.[6][7] He was appointed the ambassador of Bangladesh to Italy on 13 January 2006, replacing Anwarul Bar Chowdhury.[8][9] He served till 28 July 2008.[9] Masud Bin Momen succeeded him.[9]
On 1 May 2008, Karim was appointed as the Ambassador of Bangladesh to Saudi Arabia replacing S. M. Ikramul Haque.[6][10] In December 2010, he was replaced by Ambassador Mohammed Shahidul Islam.[10] Karim served as Bangladesh's ambassador to Jordan.[5] He went on to serve as the ambassador of Bangladesh to Mexico.[5] In October 2014, he was appointed as the Ambassador of Bangladesh to China.[5] He received a delegation from the Asia-Pacific Space Cooperation Organization at the embassy.[11]
