Leah Vasey-Saunders
Leah Vasey-Saunders (born 1977)[1] is the bishop designate of Doncaster.[2] Since 2021, she has served as the vicar of Lancaster Priory.[1]
Early life and education
Leah was educated at the University of Huddersfield, St John's College, Durham and Cranmer Hall, Durham.
Ordained ministry
She was ordained in the Church of England as a deacon in 2003; and as a priest in 2004. She served her title at St John the Evangelist, Whorlton.[3] She served a further curacy at St George, Newcastle upon Tyne.
From 2008 to 2010 she was team vicar of St John's Heath Hayes, then part of the Cannock Team Ministry and concurrently 0.2 curate of St Peter, Hednesford. She became the first vicar of the new parish of St John, Heath Hayes in 2010. From 2013 she was Priest-in-Charge of All Saints, Harworth and Bircotes. From 2016 to 2021 she was Canon Precentor of Wakefield Cathedral.
Episcopal ministry
On 29 May 2025, it was announced that Vasey Saunders would be the next Bishop of Doncaster, a suffragan bishop in the Diocese of Sheffield.[4] She is due to be consecrated on 16 September 2025.
Personal life
A keen musician,[5] she is married to the Revd Dr Mark Vasey-Saunders:[6] they have four children.[7]
