History

Land O' Lakes Branch Library originally opened in a section of a county building. In 1980, it joined the Pasco County Library Cooperative.[6] In 1980, it became apart of the Pasco County Library Cooperative. In 1986, a bond referendum was passed which was spent to build a new library location and was moved to a plaza storefront. It moved when construction finished in 1986.[4] The library opened on December 12, 1991.

In 2005, the Land O' Lakes Branch Library had a renovation that took two years.[7]

On December 17, 2015, the Land O' Lakes Branch Library opened their makerspace, the Foundry, the first in the county. It was equipped with two 3-D printers, as well as, an Oculus Rift virtual reality system, and an audio recording studio, and other uses.[8]

On January 21, 2020, the Land O' Lakes Branch Library opened its Seed Library, where patrons can take seeds and use them to learn and grow fruit, vegetables, and flowers. The seeds are donated by several organizations.[9]

On August 14, 2021, the Land O' Lakes Branch Library closed for renovations.[10] In November 2022, the library reopened to the public. The renovation costed $4.75 million, and included a renovation of the foundry makerspace, which is now used for woodworking.[4]
