Kurudere (Kurdish: Sadiyê;[2] Syriac: Sa'diyyah)[3][a] is a village in the municipality and district of Bismil, Diyarbakır Province in Turkey.[5] The village is populated by Kurds of the Barava tribe and had a population of 643 in 2022.[1][2]
History
Sa'diyyah (today called Kurudere) was historically inhabited by Syriac Orthodox Christians.[4] In the Syriac Orthodox patriarchal register of dues of 1870, it was recorded that the village had three households, who paid sixteen dues, and did not have a church or a priest.[3] It was located in the district of al-Bahramakiyyah.[3] There were 400 Syriacs in 1914, according to the list presented to the Paris Peace Conference by the Assyro-Chaldean delegation.[6]
