Kelekçi (Kurdish: Miwêlê; Syriac: Mawālī)[2] is a village in the Hasankeyf District of Batman Province in Turkey.[3] The village is populated by Kurds of the Erebiyan tribe and had a population of 43 in 2021.[1][4] It is located in the historic region of Tur Abdin.[2]

History

Mawālī (today called Kelekçi) was historically inhabited by Syriac Orthodox Christians.[2] In the Syriac Orthodox patriarchal register of dues of 1870, it was recorded that the village had 3 households, who paid 12 dues, and did not have a church or a priest.[2]
