Karitas Karisimbi (born 26 May 1974) is a Ugandan radio host, television presenter, and media personality. She has had an extensive career in Ugandan media, known for her dynamic presence on both radio and television. Karisimbi is currently associated with Next Media Services.[1][2][3]
Early life and education
Karitas Karisimbi was born on 26 May 1974 in Uganda.[4] She pursued a journalism course in Nairobi, Kenya, and later undertook an information technology course in the United Kingdom.[2]
Career
Early television career
Karisimbi first gained prominence in the Ugandan media landscape as a host on WBS TV. At WBS TV, she hosted the popular entertainment and lifestyle show Showtime Magazine.[5][2][6][7] Her vibrant personality and engaging interviewing style made the show a staple for many viewers.
Radio career
After her tenure at WBS TV, Karisimbi transitioned to radio, where she further solidified her status as a leading media personality. She worked with some of Uganda's top radio stations, including Sanyu FM, where she was a notable voice on shows like the Breakfast Show and Alive and Kicking.[8] Later, she moved to Capital FM, hosting the AM-PM Show, among other responsibilities.[9]
Hiatus and return to media
Karisimbi took a significant break from mainstream media for several years.[2] She made a highly publicized return to television in 2018, joining Next Media Services.[2][10]
Next Media Services
At Next Media Services, Karisimbi has been involved with both television and radio platforms. She became a co-host for the topical talk show ChatRoom on NBS Television, which discusses current affairs, social issues, and lifestyle topics.[11][1] She also presented on Nxt Radio, another Next Media Services station, where she co-hosted shows such as Nxt Morning Zoo and later NxtTransit.[12][1] While her specific roles may evolve, her association with Next Media marked a significant comeback to the Ugandan media scene.
Personal life
Karitas Karisimbi is a mother to a son named Ty.[13][3] She has occasionally shared insights into her personal life and journey, including her experiences as a single mother.
