Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum (transl. Sometimes I Sometimes You) is a 2024 Pakistani romantic drama television series, produced by Fahad Mustafa and Ali Kazmi under the banner of Big Bang Entertainment, and directed by Badar Mehmood. It stars Mustafa and Hania Aamir alongside Javaid Sheikh, Bushra Ansari, Emmad Irfani and Naeema Butt. The series marks the return of Fahad Mustafa to television after ten years.^[1]

The series became the highest-rated program on Pakistani television since 2021 to 2024, receiving critical acclaim for its storyline, performances, soundtrack thus, becoming a huge success across South Asia.^[2][3]

The story begins with a wedding reception of adeel and sharjeena , adeel is a topper , hardworking and ambitious guy who believes money is everything more than his family and love whereas sharjeena , an independent and strong women who believes a simple life with someone to whom she can love and trust .

Things get worse when adeel's boss rubaab confessed her love to addel when she heard about his marriage , she loved him since he joined her compnay . Rubaab is another strong , narcissistic and hardworking lady who believes she can take anyone she likes no matter how hard it is she can take it any cost .

Upon hearing the news , adeel call of the wedding and proposes to rubab not because he also love her but only because of money since he found an opportunity to jump up to the position of wealth through rubab . Heartbroken, sharjeena don't know what to do to save her sister's image from her future in laws since they both were getting married at the same reception, to save the dignity of both the families here comes the another character, adeel's younger brother mustafa .

Mustafa is unlike his brother , an academic failure, dropout , unambitius guy but inspite he is good into gaming , technology and practical life who doesn't believe in future all he want is to live in present . Sharjeena ask mustafa to marry her at first he hesitated but then he accept and they both get married.

Mustafa and sharjeena faced problems by mustafa's mother shagufta but his father iftekhar and her sister sidra liked sharjeena , as time passed they grow closer and begin loving each other . Sharjeena's love change mustafa that he understands his responsibility and he got a job in gaming field as sharjeena told him he is talented and he should use his talent to earn well so that neither his family nor sharjeena's father could taunt him .

On the other hand , adeel also faced a class superiority by his wife who controls him as he is a slave for her , her father always taunt adeel since he was using rubaab's wealth to enjoy fortune but rubaab doesn't care since she loves him .

Things get more worse when iftekhar suffered from a heart disease and need a proper surgery and for this adeel and rubaab came as a hellfire for mustafa and sharjeena but greedy shagufta prefer rubaab over sharjeena only because she was wealthy . Rubaab thought that adeel still feels for sharjeena and that's why she came along with adeel only to keep an eye on him but sharjeena doesn't love adeel anymore and her love for mustafa makes adeel jealous since he is not happy with rubaab .

Rubaab create chaos , giving sharjeena money for a good food only to insult her , taunting sharjeena's sister and her husband thus getting into a fight with sharjeena .

One day rubaab created a stealing scenario only to drag mustafa and sharjeena , everyone blamed mustafa and ask him to leave if he won't apologise to rubaab , enraged mustafa and sharjeena left the house to struggle. They move into a rented house , working hard all day to meet the basic necessities. Mustafa got an idea to develop a game , he pitched the idea to his boss Joseph only to get cheated by him but discovered by another developer danish who offers mustafa a partnership into his compnay which he named DANMUSA ( Danish and mustafa ) , mustafa became an ambitious guy who wanted to earn so much so that no one could raise a finger on sharjeena and they both live a peaceful life but sharjeena wanted mustafa to live normal , to be whoever he is but he has changed a lot which causes problem between them . The problem rose up when mustafa heard about sharjeena's pregnancy, they both wanted the child but mustafa's working behavior haunted sharjeena that he don't want the baby but mustafa was only doing for her and his baby .

On the other hand it is discovered that adeel was doing fraud in his company by telling their strategy and information to their rival companies to get commission but soon got threatened by a custom agent who wanted money at any cost so adeel sell his father's house and take them to rubab's house which his father didn't like . He was also cheating his wife with her bestfriend natasha but soon rubaab got to know about everything and she exposed adeel infront of everyone about his fraudery and affair and got him arrested, thus adeel is ruined

Mustafa became a successful game developer but returning home he found sharjeena laying on floor and took her hospital where he found his baby is dead , disheartened sharjeena left mustafa and moved with her family house , mustafa who was once nobody had everything now wealth , house but he lost his precious one sharjeena . Upon hearing his family condition mustafa brings his parents into his house as rubaab threw both of them out , they both apologise to mustafa for everything they did to him and sharjeena but sharjeena wasn't ready to return . Mustafa got adeel bailed but cut ties with him and bought back his father's house.

He meets sharjeena who wanted the old mustafa back whom she loved but he has changed a lot and wanted her to accept him as he is , they both went to their old rented house where they hugged each other and reconciled the story ends with a title kabhi mai kabhi tum

The series received positive feedback from fans and critics, and the chemistry between Mustafa and Aamir was particularly praised along with the poignant storytelling and direction. It was praised for its realistic potrayal of Karachi, the woes of the middle-class of the country and an acute depiction of the relationship dynamics in families. The series consistently garnered high TRPs throughout its run, with the finale getting a TRP of 24.2 - highest in Pakistan since 2021.^{[14][15][16][17][18]} Owing to the popularity of the series, the final episode was screened in movie theaters across Pakistan with sold out shows.^{[19][20][21][22]}

Safdar Ali Soomro, an artist from Ghotki, filed a notice against the creators of a series after discovering that his lost paintings were featured in the show. He had submitted these works to the Frere Hall gallery in 2017, along with pieces from other artists, but they went missing. Soomro has also filed a lawsuit against Frere Hall and the makers had supported an investigation by the government on Frere Hall.^[23][24][25]
