Gideon Spence Applegate (December 2, 1927 – December 4, 2016), also known as John Spearman, was an American Negro league third baseman who played in the 1940s.
Spearman played for the New York Black Yankees in 1945. In three recorded games, he posted one hit in ten plate appearances.[1][2] He died in Bennington, Vermont on December 4, 2016, at the age of 89.[1]
